Head of School: Ashley Deane
The school of Construction, Automotive and Plumbing teaches the trades (Bricklayers, Carpenters/Joiners, Property Maintenance Operatives, Painters and Decorators, Motor Vehicle Technicians and Plumbers). The school teach courses from entry level to level three to students that are either full time, apprentices, or adults. All of the staff have come from practical industries and take deep pride in supporting students developing their practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours to get them work ready.

The school of Creative and Service Industries delivers courses from level one to level six to a range of full time, part time and adult learners including Apprenticeship provision across, Hair, Beauty, and Catering. All staff across the school are professionals within their sector and pride themselves in supporting learners to discover their true passion within their chosen course of study, developing their practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours to get them work ready.

The school of Health, Life Science & Early Years delivers a mixture of courses within the Health and Social Care sector, including Early Years, Midwifery, Dental, Social Care, Counselling and Laboratory Sciences. The school delivers courses from level one to level six to a range of full time, part time and adult learners including apprenticeships.

Head of School: Karl Johnson
The School of Mechanical, Electrical and Built Environment provides a range of provision to support the local and regional skills developments. As New College Durham is the lead provider within the Northeast Institute of Technology (NEIoT) and has a primary focus for Advanced Manufacturing and Digital Construction within the School.
The school have excellent equipment to support automation and robotics, including an industry standard robotic training area. An Advanced Manufacturing Centre which provides training for Programmable Logic Controllers, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, CAD, CAM, and CNC as the demand for those skills are required in industries.
The school have recently made a large investment into a new Digital Construction facility which has been designed to mirror best practice in industry. The intention of the Design Suite and Digital Construction facility is to give all learners an inspiring area where they can work creatively and collaboratively to design projects using industry standard technical software and present their designs and ideas to audiences using innovative virtual reality tools and concepts. The Electrical department also supports the region by training aspiring Electricians and has a large volume of apprentices. Overall, our curriculum spans from Level 1 through to Level 5 and is at the forefront of new developments.

The school of Sixth Form, Sport, Uniformed Services and ESOL has a range of students studying multiple vocations.
The modern Sixth Form Centre is used for students who are studying A-Levels in a range of subjects. New College Durham has one of the largest sixth form centres in County Durham with a reputation for success.
Our ESOL courses aim to provide students with the English and academic skills needed for life, work, and study in the UK. The main objective for this department is to develop an understanding of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and learning about different varieties of English.
Uniformed Services courses cover multiple sectors including policing, the fire service, MoD, Navy, and Royal Air Force. Within these classes students are taught multiple skills that will benefit them in these practical roles such as teamwork and communication.
The sector of Sport aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge to start a career in sport, active leisure and coaching using a mixture of practical skills and learning core knowledge such as performance analysis and psychology.

The school of Foundation Studies and Vocational Steps instructs students who are living with a disability, learning disability or struggle within an educational environment. The Foundation Studies and Vocational Steps school aims to develop students who are looking for their next steps in education and help prepare students for adulthood or going into mainstream education.

The school of Travel, Digital, Professional and Management has a range of courses that are included Travel and Tourism, IT, Business, and Access to HE.

Both the English and maths team work with students who are studying English and maths qualifications, but also teach students who are attending other courses from all over the college.
